Meet at the church in Steeple Aston. A circular walk from Steeple Aston to Rousham through the grounds of the house and then after a short section on the B4030 joining the Oxford Canal to walk north to Allen’s Lock returning to the start across fields. Bring refreshment for an en-route break. Short section of walking on B4030. Assistance dogs only. Liz

Meet at Stow-on-the-Wold car park, Fosse Way, located next to Tesco on the A429. (turn right at mini-roundabout for Town car park, don’t use Tesco one. Setting off from Stow, initially on the Monarch’s Way, we visit Broadwell, Donnington, and Upper Swell. Although the route includes more road walking than usual (so hopefully less mud, too), these are generally attractive, peaceful lanes, through lovely villages, as well as tracks and field paths. Bring refreshment for en-route break. We cross the A429, as well as walk along quiet minor roads. The last section is along a busier road, but there is a wide and attractive grass verge. Meet at the pedestrian underpass at the north end of Barton Road, just before Barton Road becomes Barton Lane which runs alongside the Northern By-pass. There is a spur off this road, also called Barton Road which services some flats. There is roadside parking here. Firm path walking skirting Barton Estate to Wick Farm then fieldpath to beyond the crematorium on Bayswater Road. Returning via path to walk alongside Bayswater Road behind the Mosaics development, crossing Northern By-pass then through St. Dunstan’s Park. From there pavement walking back to start. This may be the last time this walk can take place in open countryside as the whole of this greenbelt area is earmarked for housing development. Light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Northern By-pass. Dogs on leads. Public transport No.8 bus to Barton stops on the Barton side of the underpass. London Road well serviced with buses.
