The Oxford Fieldpaths Society was founded to preserve the county's extensive network of public rights of way. The society encourages the use of the ways by having a programme of walks and has made several donations to have stiles replaced with gates.
To increase what we do, the Society is starting Volunteer Path Maintenance teams. So far we have surveyed the entire length of the d'Arcy Dalton Way. The report for this will be submitted to Oxfordshire County Council and we expect to be asked to carry out some of the simpler maintenance tasks, such as improving way marking and clearing light growth.
We are hoping to carry out a similar surveying exercise for the Oxfordshire Way over the next few months (during the bird nesting season). Once we have found our feet with the light clearance work we hope to move on to heavier work with power tools and eventually to be able to install gates.
We have setup a mailing list which we will be using to communicate with all the volunteers. If you would like to be included on the list then please use the form below. Subscribing to the list does not commit you to anything.
