Meet at Longworth, the Parish Council notice board near the junction of High Street and Tucks Lane (signed ‘No through road to river’). Please park considerately in the village. We take a track from Longworth to join the Thames Path along the upper reaches of the river, returning via Duxford and Hinton Waldrist, enjoying open views for much of the route. Near the end of the walk we’ll pass Longworth Manor, and then stop to look inside St. Mary’s Church. The terrain is generally undemanding, and there are no stiles, but there could be slippery mud in places in which case walking poles could be useful. It uses several ancient tracks and crosses the site of an important Roman villa. We pass Shaken Oak Farm which may be familiar to lovers of mustard !
