New walks leaders needed

The task of leading walks for OFS is falling on an ever decreasing number of members. For each six month period there are 26 weekends so if there is to be a walk at the weekend as well as one midweek then more leaders are needed so that 50 walks can be offered, it is not fair to ask a small number of leaders to be leading a walk every month in order for there to be a full programme. Meet and park at the Rock of Gibraltar Pub, Enslow. From the pub, over Enslow Bridge past the Satellite Earth Station, Old Whitehill Farm and deserted mediaeval village to Flight’s Mill. Meet at Port Meadow car park, Wolvercote. A full day walk through Wytham Woods to see bluebells, then descending to Swinford Tollbridge and back along the Thames towpath. Please bring a picnic and plenty to drink. No dogs as they are forbidden in the woods. Bus no 6 frequent service from city centre. Judith Secker

Meet at Cowlease Picnic Area, main entrance. Take M40 junction 5 (Stokenchurch), take A40 towards Oxford, then left on Christmas Common Road, after 1.6 miles turn left into picnic area. A walk exploring the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve on either side of the M40 with extensive views from Beacon Hill. We cross a minor road twice. Bring refreshments for en route break. Meet at Tackley Village Store car park. A peaceful circular walk around the Lower Cherwell Valley via Kirtlington village. Very rural. Meet at the Black Horse Inn, The Vale, Chesham Bucks (HP5 3NS). At Chesham take road to Hawridge, pub after 1 mile .A circular walk along the flnity ridges of Buckinhamshire, past Hawridge Court and wood fired brick kilns. Meet at the Rising Sun pub, signposted off B481 south of Highmoor Cross. A woodland walk along the Chiltern Way passing the hamlets of Sheppards and Greys Green and historic Greys Court. Returning through a succession of woods back to Highmoor Cross. Bring refreshments and a picnic, good pub at end of walk. Some minor road walking and on the B481. Assistance dogs only. Meet at Clover Place car park Eynsham, to car share to Sutton as very limited parking in Sutton village. A flat walk around Sutton to Stanton Harcourt and the Devils Quoits and back through Sutton. Meet at Knap Hill car park, Marlborough Downs. A leisurely high-level linear walk from Knap Hill to Bishops Cannings, along ancient Wansdyke, looking for wild flowers and at archaelogy. Mini bus transfer back to start (small charge). Car share from Oxford Seacourt park and ride, meet near exit. Essential to contact leader in advance if this is required. Joint walk with Ramblers.
